THE "ABOUT MATERNITY CARE" PROJECT

From Preconception through Parenting

About Maternity Care offers comprehensive allied health services in the area of Pregnancy and Family Development. Our multitalented, highly certified and liability insured staff offer an array of services which include:

  • Child Birth Education - Family Oriented workshops offered at your convenience.
  • Birth Doula Services - Early labor coaching through delivery; per your requests
  • Postpartum Doula Services - From the initial minutes of life through the first year; per your needs.
  • Prenatal Massage - May be incorported in your home visits or selected as a stand alone service.
  • Breastfeeding Education, Support and Assistance - Provides answers to breastfeeding question and hands demonstrations of breastfeeding techniques.
  • Bereavement Support and Linkages - Provides assistance and support to families who experience fetal or infant demise.
  • Event Planning - Baby showers, Blessing ways, Couples Escape- Upscale professionally staffed events based on your concepts and the guest of honors' personality.

All perspective clients are afforded a one-on-one consultation at a time and location of their choosing. Partners and family members are welcomed to participate in this introductory meeting. The objective is simply for the team member and the client and family to get acquainted and determine service preferences as part of suitable matching. Consultation fees vary based on the client's location, beginning at $50 for the hour and can serve as a deposit toward other services selected.

  • Prenatal Home visits allow for questions and answers, birth planning, childbirth education, sibling preparation activities, demonstration and use of comfort measures that may include use of birth balls, massage, aromatherapy and stress reduction exercises.
  • Birth Support is provided in an individualized manner, which may include your Doula coming to your home during the early stages of labor and accompanying you to the hospital directly. Or your Doula may arrive at the hospital at a time or stage of labor determined by you to assist with comfort measures, emotional and physical encouragement and support. Our primary commitment is to ensuring that the birthing woman and her family remain comfortable enabling their desired birth experience(s).
  • Initial Postpartum Support begins right after the birth of the baby and includes breastfeeding assistance, and assistance in recovery and the facilitation of family integration such as photography, and the creation of other memories.
  • Post Partum visits may begin after hospital discharge and includes assistance with the care of the mother, assistance with infant care, light housekeeping and breastfeeding assistance. Sibling education and other family integration assistance can also be provided throughout the course of post partum visits.

 

 

Our most popular services have been packaged for your convenience

The "Great Beginnings Package" includes:

  • One (1)prenatal visit of up to one and one-half hours
  • Birth support - may include early labor support
  • Initial Postpartum support and family facilitation-up to 2 hours

The "Great Beginning Too Package" includes:
This package is suggested for planned Cesarean births.

  • Two (2) prenatal visits of up to one hour
  • Birth support-(often determined by hospital practices)
  • Initial Postpartum support and family facilitation-up to 2 hours
  • One postpartum home visit of up to four hours

The "Precious Postpartum Package" includes:

  • In-home Consultation.
  • Four (4) hours of "mothering the mother", assistance with infant care and breastfeeding; for five days
  • Light housekeeping, Postpartum Depression and Baby blues education are also core package components
  • Sibling and other family integration services may also be addressed throughout

 




 

The "In Preparation Package" includes:

  • Three (3) in home prenatal visits beginning at about 20 gestational weeks
  • Birth Support may include early labor support
  • Initial Postpartum support and family facilitation-up to 2 hours

The "Before, During and After Package" includes:

  • Three (3) in home visits beginning at about 20 gestational weeks
  • Birth Support-may include early labor support
  • Initial Postpartum support and family facilitation-up to 2 hours
  • Two in-home postpartum visits

The "Mother's Helper Package" includes:

  • In-home Consultation
  • Two (2) hours of "mothering the mother", assistance with infant care and breastfeeding; for fourteen days.
  • OR Request services based on your scheduling needs.

Packages start as low as $450.00.


Team Members hold a minimum of two years of Doula and childbirth education experience and are:

  • Certified birth Doulas
  • Breastfeeding Educators
  • Trained in providing postpartum care
  • Liability Insured
  • Trained in Maternal Depression
  • Trained in Community Resource Access
  • Members of DONA International
  • Massage therapists are licensed in pregnancy massage and insured

Beatrice Bray, BA, CD(DONA), is a valued asset to our project. Fondly known as “Ms. Bea”, she has served pregnant women and their families as a birth Doula for the past three years. During this time, Ms. Bea has provided comfort, education and birth support to over 100 women. A trained childbirth educator, certified breastfeeding educator, and bereavement specialist, Ms. Bea is able to assist families from preconception through parenting. She also holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology and is trained in identifying indicators of Maternal Depression. Ms. Bea is certified by DONA and is a well-respected and highly trusted member of the Doula community!

Director Andrea McDowell JohnBaptiste has served in the area of Health and Social Services for over thirteen years in professional and voluntary capacities. She is the mother of three beautiful daughters and has experienced birth with professional support and without, in hospital and birthing center settings. She has first hand knowledge of the benefits of labor and postpartum services making her a strong advocate for both. As a result she remains passionate about ensuring a positive birth experience for all childbearing women. She is a certified birth Doula, Breastfeeding Peer Educator, Bereavement Specialist. Mrs. JohnBaptiste holds a Bachelors degree in Sociology with concentrations in Gender Studies and Race and Ethnicity as well as a Masters degree in Organizational Management. Voluntary affiliations include the March of Dimes, South Florida Division and the Girl Scouts of Broward County, DONA International, Lamaze International and La Leche International.
